Nothing says Christmas like broken hearts! In the newest film from chick-flick expert Nancy Meyers (What Women Want, Something's Gotta Give), Cameron Diaz plays Amanda, a Los Angeles gal whose boyfriend cheated on her, and Kate Winslet plays Iris, an English gal with man troubles of her own. The two meet on an Internet house-swap site and decide to do a switch for the holidays in order to flee the depression of their regular lives. ''Everyone has that fantasy of 'What if I lived here? How would my life be different?''' says Meyers, who was inspired by a house she rented in France right after filming Something's Gotta Give, as well as by her two leading ladies. ''They were both so enthusiastic,'' she says, ''and it gave me a lot of hope. I absolutely wrote for them. It helps me a lot when I have someone in mind to write for.''
It's not giving anything away to reveal that, because this is Hollywood, the result of the house-switching is: Diaz finds herself snuggling with Jude Law in Surrey, while Winslet is enthralled by the dreamy, romantic charms of a composer played by…Jack Black? ''When I saw School of Rock, I thought he was the cutest boy in the world,'' Meyers says. ''I fell for him, you know? So for me it was in no way a stretch.''
